When you read travel books, magazine articles, blog postings, or watch TV travel programs, or surf travel articles on the net about Sri Lanka, most of the time you will find that the most interesting attractions about Sri Lanka related to the history and natural beauty. Literature connects Sri Lanka to a historic root more than 2500 years back. Pictures of beautiful beaches, hillsides, and national parks are mostly jaw-dropping. So indeed, Sri Lanka’s attractions related to history and nature.

Unfortunately, having its peace restored only in the recent couple of years or so after decades of severe domestic unrest, infrastructure in Sri Lanka, including tourism, is fare behind the rest of the globe. But Private Leisure International offers three Sri Lanka villas in different places along the south coast of Sri Lanka that allow you to enjoy the heritage luxury, connected back to the colonial age hundred years ago. Those three villas are all beautifully restored hundred years old houses in different style, different location, and different environment.

The best way to experience the best Sri Lanka has to offer is to stay a few days in each of those three villas.

Inside a Dutch Fort of Colonial Era

Located inside the old fort of Galle, built in European colonial era, The Ambassador’s House offers unique experience to live inside one of the world’s most import historic site. Do not imagine horror scene where you are living alone in an hundreds-year-old fort. Inside the fort of Galle is a full-scale township. All attribute of an ordinary town is there inside the walls, including shops, offices, schools, churches, mosques, hotels, restaurants, and of course a living community.

The villa itself is a beautifully restored 350 years old house with 5 air-conditioned suites each with private bathroom, private swimming pool, and a fleet of dedicated staffs including in-house cook. For those who want to remains connected to modern living there are huge LCD-TV connected to satellite for numerous international channels and WiFi internet connection.

Hillside Surrounded with Tropical Forest

Sitting in a sloping hill at Kogalla, a few minutes drive from Galle, the beautifully restored old European house of Pooja Kanda is surrounded by serene tropical forest. A perfect place for mind and soul rejuvenation. Spacious terrace at the front is connected with large doors and windows into a grand living area. High ceiling and large openings to the surrounding natural forest makes the living area a soothing place to relax.

With a private terrace overlooking the forest, the master bedroom is located behind the living room and connected to the private swimming pool. Other bedrooms are located upstairs. All bedrooms are air-conditioned and have attached private bathroom.

Right On the Beach

On an unbelievably gorgeous beach about 3 hours drive away from Galle and Kogalla where The Ambassador’s House and Pooja Kanda are located sits the Ocean Edge. Its surrounding 30 acres of coconut groove gives the villa a lot more than just privacy. At the front, a terrace connecting to the living area is facing a large T-shaped private pool. Entering the terrace, a spacious living area span from the front terrace to wider back terrace featuring both couches and dining table.

Downstairs along with the living area are multimedia entertainment room, a small en-suited bedroom with single bed, and the house kitchen. Upstairs are the other three bedrooms. Just like the other two villas, all bedrooms upstairs are air-conditioned and come with private bathroom. What makes the difference are spacious balcony overlooking the surrounding coconut groove and the ocean behind attached to each bedroom.

To feel the sand on your foot, a small pathway along the coconut groove connect the back terrace to a small gate opening to one of the most stunning beaches on earth. See it yourself and you will know that I am not making an overstated praise.
