Great Barrier Reef
This Australia underwater heaven lies along the coast of Queensland. These biggest group of reef consists of 3000 reef and 900 island unfold as long as 2.600 kilometres from Port Douglas city until Bundaberg. These reef located in Coral sea along the coast of Queensland in the northeast of Australia.
They are made from millions tiny organism known as coral polyp. The coral polyp grow in one to two cm per year. They can also grow from 1 to 15 cm per year. Australian Institute of Marince Science estimated it lives almost 20,000 years ago. Great barrier reef has wide variety of plants and animals. Some of them only found here. They are a large number of whales, dolphins even many dugongs live here. Green sea turtles take them part in the northern part of the reef and the other in the south. Most of the plants spread by birds nested on islands in the northern and southern areas of the Great Barrier Reef. The plants coloring underwater nature with its bright colour whose from hundred of marine algae species or seaweed and corals. The other sea animals like shark, stingray, giant clam and species of sea horse also enriched this ecology.
You can watch them throug a glass-bottomed boat that spread out from a coastal cities like Cairns, Port Douglas, Townsville, Bundaberg, Rockhampton, Mackay, Mission Beach and Airlie Beach.
